SolidOct 14, 2009 This rack is solid and mounts on my Civic sedan easily. If I wanted to, I could mount the rack without opening the trunk. As far as trunk racks go, it's as good as any which means it has some inherent problems: Straps need to be tightened and loosened to put the rack on an tak it off; Bikes are packed together so pedals engage spokes; universal bike mounts are acceptable, but not a perfect fit. When a bike rack manufacturer fixes any of those problems they'll get 5 stars. I use this rack to haul 2 mountain bikes about 10 miles on a weekly basis. I am totally satisfied with my purchase.

Bike Carrier for carJun 30, 2009 The bike rack for a car is very well designed, sturdy and easy to assemble. Within ten minutes after opening the box, I had it mounted on the car with two bikes. After removing the bikes, it takes less then one minute to remove the rack from the car and fits easily into the trunk. It only takes about one minute to remount the rack back onto the car.
One word of caution; the bike rack cannot fit on many cars, quite a long list in the direction's supplement. Before buying, I would suggest you get this list from the manufacturer--call. It could save you a lot of trouble.

Ease of use was my concern.Aug 03, 2008 Having a different make of rack in the past that was difficult to assemble and mount, I was apprehensive about getting a universal type mount this time, but the Super Joe II was everything thing that I hoped it would be. It was practically pre-assembled when I got it and the directions were very clear with plenty of diagrams showing how to install it. The only drawback that I see is that the rack itself has no theft deterent. Anyone can simply loosen the straps and remove it from your trunk lid; not good if you live in a high theft area. Luckily I don't.
