Installation trickier than expected.Apr 08, 2010 The product works okay, and in theory, it is easy to install. However, you need to look at the instructions and parts carefully. There's a chart for vehicles that tells you which screw to use. They package the screws in a way that looks like there are two types, but actually, there are four. I installed one side fine. It then took me 30 minutes to figure out I had the wrong screw on the other side. Silly me, I guess, but I couldn't figure out why one side fit and the other didn't. Thought maybe I got the wrong landing pads. If you have the right parts, its a quick install.

Dented my roofJun 23, 2009 I have a BMW 3 series sedan, and for this car, I needed to buy the control towers and landing pad base(11). I followed the instructions carefully and had the rack installed, but when I removed the rack for a car wash, I realized that the roof was dented in. Apparently I had tightened the bolts too much. The landing pad was a rubber piece that compresses as the bolt is tightened, and it's difficult to tell visually when the rigid plastic control tower behind it is touching the roof. Also, the resistance of the bolt during tighting did not vary that much - the bolt kept on turning on without much effort. The estimate for repair = $2000.

Fits well on 07 CRVMay 30, 2009 Install is bit of a slog, but that's same for any rack mount on the CRV. You have to work the nuts on and off the threaded studs on the vehicle roof to clear off the paint on them. Then after putting the landing pad on tightening the nuts is pretty stiff with the allen wrench provided. They look good though and have a nice cover for when towers/bars are not in use. Towers snap right in and are solid.
