Awesome!!Nov 05, 2009
By Juan F. Upegui This product is indeed amazing. The yakima fairing fulfills its purpose of substantially minimizing the loud wind blowing noise when a roof-rack is installed. This product is extremely easy to install (about 10 minutes tops). Besides the it primary purpose, it also gives you vehicle a make-over, gives it a sporty look to it. I would definitely recommend this product!!!
Cons: It can definitely be cheaper for two reasons: 1) flexy material looks that it can go for less. 2) the front of the fairing says "Yakima", its like free advertisement.

I always hear a whistling sound on my roof rack whenever i go to the freeways. With this product it really eliminates that irritating noise.

yakima roof rack fairingMay 14, 2012

I suppose I may have expected too much in any product's ability to reduce wind noise of a roof rack. At turnpike speed, the fairing helps but does not eliminate the noise created by the rack. Strong side winds, or quartering from ahead cause the most noise, and of course the fairing works best when traveling in the same direction as the wind or at lower speed. Still noisy, but not to such an extent!

Must have a fairing if you get the rack!May 18, 2007
By S. Bartholomew I bought the Yakima rack to carry my kayak and love it. But when I have taken the fairing off the wind noise is terrible and it feel like the truck is being jerked all over the road by the wind. I would not buy a rack without getting the fairing to go with it. It's well worth the price and I can only assume it is saving me gas as well.
