5Works Well In 2.5 ft Of SnowMar 03, 2010
This product works great the only problem I had was in the parking lot of my condo the ground is loose gravel/sand and the chains dig themselves into the ground. The wheels would not move forward or back just down into the ground, had to get pushed out. You can't drive over 30mph.

2Not for rear-wheel-drive carsMar 02, 2010
I bought these chains for a real-wheel drive Hyundai Genesis. Although I was able to install them in my driveway at home about two months ago, I was unable to put them both on today, in a driving snowstorm in Yosemite, although I worked at it for two hours and had 3 people try to help me at various times. My car only has about 2 inches of clearance between the tops of the tires and the rear fenders, and eventually I came up with the idea of using my jack to raise the car, thus increasing that distance to about 5 inches. That made it considerably easier to hook the two ends of the chain together on top of the tire (the first step), and I was able to get one chain on one tire, but the other side proved to be impossible. The chain seemed to hang up on some structures under the car, and I was unable to pull it tight enough to complete the second step, i.e., to connect a red hook to a red link. Even with the adequate (5") clearance that I got from using my jack, I found it somewhat difficult to perform the first step, and with 2" of clearance, it was nearly impossible, so I think there is a design flaw in the chains themselves. It should not be necessary to make the first step so difficult. The hook is too tiny and requires too fine an aim for frozen hands. As advertised, the chains are very easy to remove, so I am giving them two stars for that feature. Judging from comments by other reviewers, I'm guessing that my difficulties with installation were mainly caused by the necessity of installing the chains on the rear wheels of a real-wheel-drive car.

4Well-designed and great qualityFeb 17, 2010
I purchased a set of Thule CS10 snow chains (size 095) in December. The quality is exceptional, from the carrying case to the durability and design of the chains themselves. I've owned older-style chains and cable sets before, but none were close to this in quality. Of course, for the price, they should be exceptional, and they are.

My only complaint is the documentation, which is poor. It's done in the modern "global" style with illustrations instead of words for the most part. Problem is, the illustrations don't make everything clear. First, a set of grey plastic snap "buttons" are included and there's very little help in the documentation regarding where to attach these. They go at each junction points on the chains - at every point where the cross-tread chains connect with the long longitudinal chain to protect the wheels and tires.

It took me about an hour to figure out how installation was supposed to work and do it the first time. There are videos online that are quite helpful, but make it look easier than it is. The problem I had is that there's very little slack on my particular tires and the chain has to be exactly right to mate the two hooks up correctly. It was much easier and faster the second time and even more so the third time. Just install them at home one time before you're caught out somewhere in the snow and you'll be fine.

Removing them is literally instant. One pull on the release and the chains just fall to the ground. Couldn't be easier. Use the included red handle to pull the little red tab.

In use, the chains have been durable and provide great traction. The self-adjusting feature is great. Just attach them and drive away.

Watch the installation video online, practice at home once, and I think you'll love them. Highly recommended.

5Worked wonderfully on my 2004 Lexus LS430Feb 10, 2010
I used these chains last night in some nasty mid east snow (York, PA). I WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT HOME WITHOUT THEM!!! They worked very well on my 2004 Lexus LS430. My only suggestion is to have your tire jack handy when you put them on. While it is possible to put them on without a tire jack, you must have adequate wheel well clearance as the first connection is made on the top, back-side of the tire. If you have REALLY small hands, it shouldn't be a problem, for the rest of us, use a tire jack. If you jack the car up, as I did last night, it makes it much easier. These chains are easy to put on, and even easier to remove with the pull tab. Another suggestion...PRACTICE putting them on in good weather before trying in bad weather. These are very well engineered, but it is not obvious as to how to connect them, and the instructions on the side of the box are brief. They are great for cars with limited wheel well clearance, as is the case with my car. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!! We haven't had snow like this in 20 years, but it was worth it when I needed them..

5Top of the lineFeb 02, 2010
These chains are far superior than others on the market. The 4x4 went out on my car and with these chains I can barely tell the difference. They are easier to take on and off than other designs too. Highly recommend.
