 Awesome light weight rack for the priceMar 31, 2009

I did a whole lot of research before purchasing a roof rack for my '95 ZJ. This rack fits the bill in every way, it looks awesome, is light, made of corrosion resistant aluminium, and has more accessory mounts than you can shake a stick at. Installation is a breeze. Not pictured are the 48" crossbars that came with the kit I purchased. My only gripe is that this was not communicated and i bought another set.

I bought this rack for my 1986 Jeep Cherokee to move the spare out of the back window. I loved the look of it and that it cost almost half as much as most other baskets I looked at. It was sturdy, well made, easy to assemble and good looking. Also I got to support and American company with American workers, which was a plus in my eyes. I would definitely recommend and purchase again, if I ever need to.

I have owned this for about 3 weeks and I am very happy with it. I have a toyota sienna 2001 with factory roof rack. It took a little bit of modification to make this fit perfect onto my factory roof rack. Overall It is solid and light weight. Comes with all the parts needed. Fast delivery from Amazon.com. Looks good and fits any budget. If you buy this you wont regret it.

OK, so let me start by saying that the product itself is not bad. It seems sturdy. Looks really good on my 2005 Lexus GX. However, my problem is with the lack of information and details when buying it. This is why I gave this item 1 star. I figured that if anyone is looking to buy this product they will see the 1 star and want to read the review. I think anyone considering this product will want to read this.
Amazon.com and the item details for this product says that it fits my vehicle. Ok great. One of the other reviews says that it came with everything needed. Great. So I ordered this product, got it quickly and it good condition. I put it together, which was pretty much a snap. However, I then found myself looking around for how to mount it on my vehicle. The only instructions that came with it was a single piece of paper with a couple of pictures that showed how to assemble the rack itself, which was so easy I didn't really need them. There were no other instructions and no "extra" parts which would be used to mount it to the vehicle. I called Amazon customer support asking for help. Thier solution was to offer to send me a replacement. Nice enough of an offer, but not going to fix my problem. They did get me the number to the manufacturer, so that maybe they could help. I called the manufacturer twice. The first time it rang for about 7 minutes before I hung up. The second time I go voice mail so I left a message asking for help. I have not heard anything from them.
I finally did my own research and found that I needed to purchase another part (surco part number 1101) to mount it to my existing luggage rack. This was an additional $100+.
So the product itself seems nice, but buyer, do some research, find out everything you need for your vehicle to mount this up. The listing on here does not provide enough information. I hope this helps someone because it was a frustrating buying experience for me.

I purchased this for my husband as a surprise, there was some assembly required but not real bad. Once we have some wear on it I will follow up.
